November 23 - January 3, Forest Park Nature Center

Forest Park Nature Center is once again gearing up for a busy Holiday Season!  As many of you know, our Annual Nature Art Show & Sale, which will run from Nov. 23-Jan. 3, is a cornerstone of the season here at Forest Park.  This one-of-a-kind show features native plant and animal and folk-art themed pieces created by talented, local artists.  Past shows have included nature paintings and photography, handmade jewelry, woodturned items, unique handcrafted items and more.

Nature Art Show artwork is displayed during our regular hours (9-5 Mon.-Sat. and 1-5 Sun.), and highlighted during our Holiday Shop & Stroll events.  These events, which have become a holiday tradition, feature musical entertainment, hot wassail and fresh goodies, and beautiful luminary-lit trails.  This year, Shop & Stroll will be held from 6-8:30 pm on Dec. 6th, 13th, 14th, and 20th.  We encourage NAS artists to attend these events, as it is an excellent time to sell artwork personally.

Applications and acceptance into the art show are based on several criteria, including:  1) The extent to which artwork focuses on native plants, animals, or native habitat and/or the extent to which the artwork reflects the folk arts in our region.  2) The diversity and price range of the artwork offered.  3) The amount of sales of artwork in past Nature art shows, if applicable.

If you are interested in applying for our show and have not previously participated, then please submit 3 photos of your work (no more than 3 photos, please) along with your name, phone number, and artwork price range to c/o Nature Art Show, Forest Park Nature Center, 5809 Forest Park Drive, Peoria Heights, IL 61616, or email them to

Artists who have previously participated may apply by simply contacting us with their name and phone number.  Space is limited.  Submissions are no longer being taken.  We will inform artists of acceptance by November 1, 2013.

In order to help us defray the costs associated with the Shop and Stroll programs, there is a $35.00 registration fee.  However, please do not submit any payment until all applications are received and artist participation is finalized.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
